강릉단오제는 2005년 유네스코 인류구전 및 무형문화유산 걸작으로 지정되었고, 1967년 중요무형문화재 제13호로 지정되었다. 1975. 영상과 사진을 활용한 미디어아트로 단오제의 아름다움을 현대미술로 표현한 페스티벌이다. 온·오프라인을 통해 방문객들이 즐길 수 있는 다양한 프로그램이 마련되어 있다.
