朝鮮時代、宮廷衛兵は景福宮の正門や興仁之門、崇礼門などの都市の正門を守る門番でした。王室衛兵は交替制で勤務し、光化門の開閉を担当した。 1469 年に王室護衛制度が施行されるまで、宮殿の門は中央軍の兵士によって守られていました。景福宮と光化門一帯で行われる宮廷衛兵交代式では、朝鮮時代に行われた衛兵交代式が史料に基づいて再現され、衣装や武器も再現されている。
