새연교는 우리나라 최남단 지역에 조성된 육교 중 가장 긴 육교이다. '테우'에서 영감을 받은 다리 (제주 전통 통나무배) 2009년 9월 개항하여 서귀포항과 새섬을 연결합니다. 고가도로는 국내 최초로 건설된 단일 사장교이다. 다리에는 바람과 돛에서 영감을 받은 주요 타워와 화려한 LED 조명이 있습니다. 다리가 생기면서 섬의 생태계가 온대림 보호구역으로 지정되어 있는 새섬으로의 여행이 훨씬 쉬워졌습니다. 또한 1.2㎞의 산책로와 시민광장, 나무데크길, 자갈길, 숲속길, 테마포토존 등 다양한 편의·레저시설을 갖추고 있다.
