강화성공회는 1900년에 초대 주교였던 채리스 존 코르페(Charies Jone Corfe)에 의해 성 베드로와 성 바울 교회로 축성되었습니다. 이후 교회는 여러 차례 복원을 거쳤지만 디자인은 원래 모습을 그대로 유지하고 있습니다.
4x10 직사각형 2층 건물로 외부는 한국 전통건축 양식이 특징이며, 내부는 조화의 아름다움과 한국 전통을 상징하는 서양식 바실리카 양식이 특징이다. 최초로 경기도 유형문화재 제154호로 지정되었다가 강화도가 인천광역시에 편입되면서 인천 유형문화재로 지정되었습니다. 2001년 1월에 대한민국 사적 제424호로 지정되었다. |
