동호해수욕장은 곰소만 남쪽, 부안 변산반도와 전라북도 고창군 사이에 위치해 있다. 1km 길이의 백사장을 따라 수백 년 된 소나무가 우거진 푸른 숲이 펼쳐진다. 특히 숲에서 바라보는 노을은 지는 해가 은은한 분홍빛으로 하늘을 뒤덮어 눈길을 끈다. 앞바다의 물은 상대적으로 얕으며 깊이는 0.5~1.5m 사이입니다. 바닷물의 염분 함량이 높기 때문에 해수욕과 모래욕을 즐기기에 이상적인 장소입니다.
숲 위 언덕에는 해마다 지역 어부들이 모여 풍어를 기원하는 바다의 신을 모시는 수성당이 있다. |
