大興寺は、百済時代の聖王の時代に新羅の僧侶である安道和尚が建立したと伝えられ、人生の三災を守る仏教文化の三才仏事典を復元した場所です。表忠寺と一枝岩茶園には、秋沙金正熙や崇善寺僧侶など当時の著名人の著作や痕跡が展示されています。寺院内には、大雄宝殿、チムゲル、明富殿、ウンジン堂、天仏殿、天仏尚、表忠寺、大光明殿、一枝岩、豊美勒岩、聖宝博物館などがあります。海南大興寺北弥勒庵石刻仏坐像(国宝第308号)、塔山寺銘銅鐘(宝物第88号)をはじめ、扶道殿、寓話など様々な文化財や寓話が保存されている。そして韓国最大の仏塔中庭。
