부용대는 태백산맥이 끝나는 높이 약 64m의 절벽이다. 정상에 오르면 안동 하회마을을 한눈에 볼 수 있다. 이름은 중국의 고대 역사에서 따온 것입니다. 연꽃이라는 뜻으로 부용대라는 이름은 하회마을의 모습이 연꽃과 같다고 하여 붙여졌다고 한다. 따라서 절벽에서 마을을 가장 잘 볼 수 있습니다. 부용대 근처에는 오견정사, 겸암정사, 화천서원이 있다.
