고려 말 태조는 보각대사가 은둔할 수 있도록 청계산 기슭에 큰 사찰을 짓도록 명했다. 지금은 사찰 터가 폐허로 변해 정혜원영이라 불리는 보각국사 탑과 사자석등, 정혜원영 비만 남아 있다. 최근 건립된 청룡사도 불교문화재와 함께 인근에 자리잡고 있다.
