仙岩湖公园最初是为了提供工业用水而开发的，四十多年来一直用高高的铁丝网对公众封闭。然而，在该地区因工业原因不再使用后，栅栏被拆除，1.2㎢湖区被改造成公园。各种设施和步行道的建立是为了与令人惊叹的风景和周围环境相得益彰。
