高敞邑城建于 1453 年朝鲜端宗统治时期，旨在保护城市免受外来侵略。这些城墙是由当地平民利用现有的自然资源建造的。也称墨阳城，这座城墙在保护南部地区方面发挥了重要作用，并于 1965 年 4 月 1 日被指定为史迹第 145 号。城墙高 4 至 6 米，长 1,684 米，城墙上有 3 个门。北墙、东墙和西墙均由弧形墙保护。这片大片区域内有22座政府大楼。城墙的修复工作自 1976 年以来一直在进行。
