법주사는 신라 진흥왕 14년(553년)에 창건된 속리산 자락에 있는 절이다. 그러나 임진왜란(1592-1598) 때 원래 건물의 대부분이 소실되었으며, 현재의 건축물은 1624년에 재건되었습니다. 본당인 대웅보전을 중심으로 아름답고 중요한 불교 유물과 미술품이 많이 소장되어 있습니다.
