The best mountain to view Hallyeo Waterway in the Tongyeong area is Byeokbangsan Mountain. From the summit, the Nojasan Mountain and Gyeryongsan Mountain of Geoje Island to the southeast and the countless islands of Hallyeo Waterway to the south come into full view. Byeokbangsan Mountain, located in Anjeong-ri, Gwangdo-myeon, is also called Byeokbalsan (碧鉢山) and is the highest mountain in Tongyeong City, 650m above sea level. As the old saying goes, ‘For every famous mountain, there is a great temple.’ Byeokbangsan Mountain contains Anjeongsa Temple, an old temple founded by the great monk Wonhyo of Silla, and the hermitages within the mountain: Gasyupam Hermitage, Uisangam Hermitage, Eunbongam Hermitage, and Cheongaeam Hermitage.

Byeokbalsan Mountain is a valley with six virtues. The mountain peak, majestically intertwined with huge rock formations, has a southern rocky ridge like the tip of a sword, and to the south, it extends to Cheongaesan Mountain, Dodeoksan Mountain, Balamsan Mountain, and Jeseokbong Peak, giving it the majesty of Tongyeong's ancestral mountain. In addition, the red pine forest and clear mountain stream near Anjeongsa Temple are a boundary away from the worldly world, and the azaleas that wrap the mountain ridges in pink silk in spring and the maple leaves that decorate the mountain in fall are another aspect of this mountain.
