It is one of the five famous mountains of Honam along with Jirisan Mountain, Naejangsan Mountain, Wolchulsan Mountain, and Byeonsan Mountain. It is a 723m high mountain located on the border of Gwansan-eup and Daedeok-eup. The entire mountain is made of rocks, and each peak rises as if piercing the sky. Famous rocks such as Gibawi Rock, Lion Rock, and Buddha Rock boast their own unique appearances, and especially at the top, the rocks rise sharply. It is said that it was called Cheongwansan Mountain because its appearance resembles the crown of the emperor decorated with jewels. When you climb the mountain, the archipelago of the southern coast unfolds like an oriental painting, and to the north, you can see Wolchulsan Mountain in Yeongam, Jeamsan Mountain in Jangheung, and Mudeungsan Mountain in Gwangju at a glance, and when the weather is clear, Hallasan Mountain in Jeju Island mysteriously appears toward the sea. Above the ridge, strangely shaped rocks are like an exhibition hall of natural sculptures, and a silver grass field near the summit forms a spectacular 400,000 pyeong area. Every fall, the Cheongwan Mountain Silver Grass Festival is held in the silver grass plain at the top of Cheongwan Mountain. There was Cheongwansa Temple built by Yeongtong during the reign of King Aejang of Silla on the hillside, but now the temple, Chilseonggak, and Yosa Temple remain. There are also several cultural relics, including Cheongwansa's three-story stone pagoda (treasure), stone lantern (Jeollanam-do tangible cultural property), and five-story stone pagoda.
