'Ojukheon' is a representative historic site in the Gangneung area that became famous in connection with Yulgok Yi I, a great scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. Ojukheon is a building from the early Joseon Dynasty, and was designated as a treasure in 1963 in recognition of its importance in architectural history. It is said that Yulgok Lee I was born here in Mongryongsil (夢龍室). The grounds include Ojukheon, Munseongsa Temple, Sarangchae, Yeogegak, Yulgok Memorial Hall, and Gangneung City Museum. Munseongsa Temple is a shrine that houses the portrait of Yulgok, and Yeogegak is a relic collection hall to store Yulgok's book, Gyeokmongyogyeol, and the inkstone (Yongyeon) that Yulgok used during his childhood. Meanwhile, the Yulgok Memorial Hall is an exhibition hall of the Yulgok family's relics, including Yulgok's writings and Shin Saimdang's posthumous works, as well as Maechang and Oksan Lee Woo. Meanwhile, Gangneung City has been holding the Yulgok Festival to commemorate Yulgok every year on October 25th and 26th from 1961 to the present.
