Shineumsan Mountain is a small peak rising on the northeastern side of Dutasan Mountain, a nationally famous mountain located 15km east of Samcheok City. This mountain, like Taebaeksan Mountain, can be considered a sacred place for shamanism. There are many altars and stone pagodas all over the mountain. There is also an anecdote about an old woman who came here to visit and became a shaman because she was blessed.

Mt. Shinum is actually not the summit of a mountain peak, but a rocky area with numerous puddles here and there. The name Shinum means fifty sprouts, and is also written in Chinese characters as Osipjeongsan Mountain. On Mt. Shinum, there is a temple with a long history where Lee Seung-hyu's “Jewangungi” was written, and that is Cheoneunsa Temple. It has been designated as Historic Site No. 441 due to its significant historical significance, and the scenery of the surrounding old tree forest of more than two acres is amazing.
