Seoraksan Mountain is a famous natural attraction spanning Goseong, Inje, and Yangyang-gun, including Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do. It was the fifth park to be named a national park following Hallyeohaesang National Park in 1970, and in 1982, it was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for the first time in Korea. It is also listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Green List, a list of internationally well-managed protected areas. Seoraksan National Park boasts a vast scale, with a total area of ​​approximately 398 km². Using Daecheongbong, the main peak, as the standard, the eastern side bordering Sokcho-si is divided into Oeseorak, the western side is Naeseorak, and the area toward Hangyeryeong and Osaek is divided into Namseorak. Daecheongbong Peak, the second highest mountain after Hallasan and Jiri Mountain, is covered with snow for 5 to 6 months out of the year, and the name ‘Seorak’ comes from this. When you climb Daecheongbong Peak, you can see the panoramic view of Seoraksan Mountain with its beautiful natural scenery and the East Sea, and the sunrise and sunset are especially spectacular. In addition to Daecheongbong, about 30 mountain peaks, including Socheongbong, Hwachaebong, and Jungcheongbong, create a magnificent spectacle. In addition, there are many hidden places such as Biryong Falls, Ulsan Rock, Heun Rock, and Geumganggul Cave. By using the cable car operated near Seoraksan Small Park, even the elderly or disabled can enjoy the scenery of Seoraksan without difficulty.
