CHUNGCHEONGBUK-DO WEATHER
Gunjasan Mountain is a mountain belonging to Songnisan National Park and was once called Gungunsan Mountain. Considering the Deokbawi Rock, Jeongjaso, Seodangmal and the remains of teacher Song Si-yeol at the foot of the mountain, it seems natural that it would have been seen as a nobleman who accumulated virtue. What makes the military assets stand out even more is the Ssanggok Valley. The 10km long valley is filled with water, rocks, and pine trees, creating a beautiful scenery that attracts so many tourists that there is almost no time to go there in the summer. In particular, as a result of a water quality test conducted on famous valleys in North Chungcheong Province in 1996, the water of Ssanggok Valley was judged to be the best water.

The trailhead of Gunjasan Mountain starts from the unpaved parking lot across from the pine field after crossing the bridge from Sogeumgang River, the second valley of Ssanggok. If you follow the hiking trail marked on the east side of the parking lot for 15 minutes, you will reach the Sky Wall Observatory at the top of Fossil Rock. From here, you can see the Hyperbolic Road below and feel like you have climbed a high mountain. The mountain path is full of old pine trees. As you pass the upper part of Sogeumgang River, if you look down to the right, you will see a dizzying cliff. In about a minute, you can take a breather from the flat peak. The road seems to go down to the right, but if you go up the rocky road again, you will climb a semi-climbing area of about 5m, and once again you can see the Ssanggok Valley from the wide-open observatory. Climb the slope of the 8th ridge and start walking on the ridge path. After about 20 minutes, you reach a small peak on the way to the summit. From here, you can see the summit of Gunjasan Mountain high up, and you can see all directions clearly, so it is called a natural observatory. You can climb to the top by going around your waist without climbing this peak, but it is a continuous climb for about 30 minutes from the natural observatory to the top.

There is a 10m wide open space at the summit. The view from the top is unobstructed with the majesty of a gentleman. To the east, the white flesh of Ssanggok Valley hangs down like a skein of thread, and the nearby rugged mountain ranges from Bogaesan Mountain and Chilbosan Mountain to Heeyangsan Mountain, Baekhosan Mountain, and Akhibong Mountain are breathtaking. To the south, beyond the small Gunjasan Mountain and beyond Daeya Mountain, the mountain ranges of Songnisan Mountain are as rugged as the back of a dinosaur. There are two ways to go down the mountain. If you go over the rocky peak to the north, pass the heliport, and go down for about 30 minutes, you will come to Wonhyo Cave, where Master Wonhyo is said to have practiced meditation. It is a rocky cave, and water springs out from inside the cave. If an unclean person comes, the water will become cloudy or bugs will form, making it impossible to drink. They say it works. From here, if you walk down the ridge of the ranch road for about 40 minutes, you will reach Hakdong Village, and it takes about 5 minutes by car to reach the location of Chilseong. The most commonly used descent route is to take the southern ridge for about 30 minutes, and you can see an unobstructed view of the south from the open rocky peak. If you go down again for about 30 minutes, you will reach Domajae, which leads to Saeun-ri. From here, take the downhill road on the left. Pass through the tattered area and arrive at the main road of Domagol in about 50 minutes.
You can finish the hike.
