The Jejumok government office, which was the center of governance in the Jeju region during the Joseon Dynasty, was distributed in the surrounding area, including the current Gwandeokjeong, and is presumed to have been the site of major government facilities such as Seongjucheong since the Tamna period. The government facility began its history immediately after all the buildings were destroyed in a fire at the government office in 1434. The framework was built in 1435 the following year, and remodeling and remodeling took place throughout the Joseon Dynasty. However, the Jejumok government office was intensively demolished during the Japanese colonial period, and no traces of it were visible except for Gwandeokjeong. In Jeju City, four excavations were conducted from 1991 to 1998 to restore the Jejumok government office, which served as the center of Jeju's politics, administration, and culture, from the Tamna period to the Joseon Dynasty, to its original style. Sites of buildings such as Honghwagak (弘化閣), Yeonhuigak (延曦閣), Yuyundang (友蓮堂), and Gyullimdang (橘林堂), which are central buildings that appear in literature along with various cultural layers up to the present era. and remains were confirmed, and relics were also excavated. On March 30, 1993, the Jejumok Gwanaji area was designated as a national historic site, and based on the foundation stones and foundation stones identified during the excavation, 『Tamna Sunryeokdo『 Restoration of the government office through historical research and advice from contemporary literature, such as the "Diagram of the History of the People" and "The Comprehensive Review of Tamra Broadcasting," as well as the Central Cultural Heritage Committee, local historians, and experts. The basic design was completed, and restoration was completed in December 2002.
