Description of art | 〈Continuous Peaks at Mt. Bukhan (2) (Sketch)〉(2007) is a sketch work that started with Min Joung-Ki’s attempt to paint Bukhansan Mountain in a complete map while envisioning a mega-scale work. At that time, he used the ancient map of Bukhansanseong Fortress made of woodblock prints as the data for his field trips, and he worked on it by climbing and checking Bukhansan Mountain with his own eyes for about two months with the advice of Choi Wook (Choi Min’s brother), who lived around the Bukhansan area. The artist found Eungbong Peak to be a suitable place to view all of Bukhansan Mountain. This sketch draws Bukhansan Mountain in three dimensions by moving from Eungbong Peak to the east, including the seven peaks of the Uisang Ridge in the center beyond Nojeokbong Peak. Min Joung-Ki learned about Bukhansan Mountain through existing literature and ancient maps. The sketch is the result of his comprehensive sense and perception beyond a simple landscape painting. | ||||||
