Description of art In “Seoul Museum of Art” (2011), Han took photographs of scenes of Seoul Museum of Art, SeMA with temporary installation such as the fence-screens and scaffolds during the facade renovation of its main building in Seosomun in 2011. Since its completion in 1928, the facade of the museum had been preserved despite repeated addition of new buildings, resulting in being designated as a national cultural asset in 2006. As such, Han photographed installed fence screens bearing the life-size blueprint of the completed building in its front during the renovation or restoration of major modern architecture of Korea, creating the “Facade” series to express the state in which present and virtual images coexist. Through the series of works, Han has attempted to expand the horizons of conceptual interpretation of space; fundamental questions on medium including one about the original and the copy; and significance of memories and space. Advancing further from photography, Han has recently drawn attention with large-scale public art project of wrapping buildings such as Space Group Building, Goyang Culture Foundation Building, and the 18th Street Art Center Building in Santa Monica.
