大邱桂山天主教堂是由來到大邱傳教的羅伯特神父（A.P.，1853-1922）建造的。 1899年，教堂建築採用韓國風格設計，採用木結構建造，但在動工幾個月後就被大火燒毀。羅伯特神父創造了一種新的建築設計，並從法國和香港進口了彩色玻璃和鍍鋅鐵，因為這些類型的建築材料在韓國很難找到。工程最終於 1902 年完工，即工程啟動三年後。
這座教堂是大邱僅存的 1900 年代初期的建築。教堂建築呈拉丁十字形，由中殿和耳堂組成。這座以羅馬式為主的教堂也具有一些哥德式建築元素，例如彩色玻璃窗和尖塔。 |
