陽谷生態植物園於2004年6月首次開放，總面積189141平方公尺。建設耗資近31億韓元（約300萬美元），旨在發展成為韓朝生態系統恢復中心。它位於韓國最北部地區，擁有 400 多種稀有植物，其中包括韓國本土物種並受到韓國環境部保護的植物。
園區依特色分為植物園、天然林、設施區等六個部分。植物園內集中展示了非軍事區（DMZ）和陽谷地區自然生長的北方本土植物、高山植物等稀有植物。 另有步道、藥用植物展廳、苗圃、溫室等。為增添庭園自然活潑的氣息，設置了山澗區和潮濕地區，讓人們有機會享受悅耳的流水聲。 |
