道般寺是統一新羅慶文王5年（865年）由道善僧人建造的。相傳，高91公分的毘盧遮那佛鐵坐像在被運往鐵原安養寺時失踪，並在現址上神秘地被發現，是道善和尚創建了這座寺廟。
寺廟被命名為Dopiansa，表明鐵製佛像已達到“片”，意思是永恆的休息處。寺內除了有道善和尚製作的傳說中的毘盧遮那鐵坐佛（國寶）外，還有一座高4.1公尺的三層石塔（寶物）。 |
