昭南寺建於 1396 年，由朝鮮王朝大和尚武鶴所建。 1734年進行了整修，1976年寶雲和尚增建了大雄殿、七聖閣、山師閣，最終形成了我們今天所知的隱修院。它目前位於首爾大學校園內著名的紫河洞谷。
