龍興宮是哲宗（1849-1863 年在位）登基前居住的地方。哲宗4年，江華郡主鄭起世擴建了原來的宅邸，並將其命名為龍興宮。其建築特色包括 paljak（韓國傳統的半坡屋頂）和 Jusimpo 風格的支撐柱，柱托架僅放置在柱子的頂部。宮殿是仿照昌德宮演慶堂、樂善齋等住宅的傳統建造的，所以宮殿建築給人一種古樸樸素的感覺。宮殿內有碑石和碑屋，顯示這裡曾經是哲宗大王的故居。
