為了發揮統一重要鑰匙的作用，鑰匙天文台於1998年4月11日成立，以紀念思鄉之愁，並進行該地區的安全教育。該地區的軍隊也可以從這個位置監視北部。遊客可以看到非軍事區的圍欄和警衛哨所以及展示戰爭物品的展覽廳。
