據了解，波大島是由密陽樸氏家族的樸行緒從大黑山島遷出後首先定居的。該島因是三座島嶼中最南端的島嶼而得名，該島出產豐富的食用海藻。除了附近水域棲息的各種魚類吸引了眾多漁民外，該島還以盛產紫菜等食用海藻而聞名。儘管大多數島民以漁業為生，但也經常可以看到黑山羊在綠色的牧場上吃草。波多戶島的海灘只有 300 公尺長，但卻擁有原始的美麗。
