塔谷公園被指定為歷史遺址，是首爾建造的第一個現代公園。公園位於原建於朝鮮世祖13年的圓覺寺遺址上。然而，由於高宗顧問英國人約翰·麥克利維·布朗的提議，寺廟被摧毀，直到1897年才成為公園。公園作為首爾 3 月 1 日獨立運動的起點也很重要。公園原名為寶塔公園，於 1992 年 5 月 28 日改為現在的塔谷公園。大院覺寺，以及首次宣布獨立宣言的八角亭；獨立運動浮雕板；還有孫秉熙的雕像。
