甘谷大教堂由卡米盧斯·布永 (Camillus Bouillon) 神父於 1896 年從法國獲得神職後直接來到韓國創建。由於牧師向聖母祈禱，為教堂提供土地，教堂供奉聖母瑪利亞。
這座教堂有著100多年的悠久歷史。據報道，在朝鮮戰爭結束期間，這裡被用作當地居民的避難所，以躲避朝鮮士兵返回北方。目前的建築建於 1930 年，仿照首爾明洞大教堂設計。教堂內還有 Maegoe 博物館，最初是 Bouillon 神父的住所，現已改建為博物館，展示這座小而重要的大教堂的歷史。 |
