光州湖位於無等山腳下，景色優美。 許多人來到湖邊不僅是為了放鬆身心，也是為了釣魚。湖上游附近有朝鮮王朝時期建造的美麗涼亭，展示了當時的傳統園林文化。其中之一的涼亭是始慶亭，這是北韓時期著名政治家和詩人鄭哲所寫的歷史遺址。
