鹿洞书院建于 1789 年，是为了纪念金正宣将军 (1571-1642)，他在临津战争 (1592-1598) 期间为韩国抵御日本侵略做出了巨大贡献。该学院于1868年关闭，1885年恢复。1971年迁至现址。如今，金将军的牌位供奉在这个大厅里，每年三月都会在这里举行追悼会。鹿洞书院附近的景点包括鹿洞寺、崇贵堂、香门和碑石。
