大邱桂山天主教堂是由来到大邱传教的罗伯特神父（A.P.，1853-1922）建造的。 1899年，教堂建筑采用韩国风格设计，采用木结构建造，但在动工几个月后就被大火烧毁。罗伯特神父创造了一种新的建筑设计，并从法国和香港进口了彩色玻璃和镀锌铁，因为这些类型的建筑材料在韩国很难找到。工程最终于 1902 年竣工，即工程启动三年后。
这座教堂是大邱仅存的 1900 年代初期的建筑。教堂建筑呈拉丁十字形，由中殿和耳堂组成。这座以罗马式为主的教堂还具有一些哥特式建筑元素，例如彩色玻璃窗和尖塔。 |
