道般寺是统一新罗庆文王5年（865年）由道善僧人建造的。相传，高91厘米的毗卢遮那佛铁坐像在被运往铁原安养寺时失踪，并在现址上神秘地被发现，是道善和尚创建了这座寺庙。
寺庙被命名为Dopiansa，表明铁制佛像已达到“片”，意思是永恒的休息处。寺内除了有道善和尚制作的传说中的毗卢遮那铁坐佛（国宝）外，还有一座高4.1米的三层石塔（宝物）。 |
