龙兴宫是哲宗（1849-1863 年在位）登基前居住的地方。哲宗4年，江华郡主郑起世扩建了原来的宅邸，并将其命名为龙兴宫。其建筑特色包括 paljak（韩国传统的半坡屋顶）和 Jusimpo 风格的支撑柱，柱托架仅放置在柱子的顶部。宫殿是仿照昌德宫演庆堂、乐善斋等住宅的传统建造的，所以宫殿建筑给人一种古朴朴素的感觉。宫殿内有碑石和碑屋，表明这里曾经是哲宗大王的故居。
