丰南门建于 1734 年朝鲜王朝时期，被指定为国宝。风南门是全州四个城门中最南端的城门。 1767年，该建筑因火灾而严重受损，随后门楼得到修复。临津战争期间，该门再次被烧毁，并被修复成今天所见的门。
