东郭寺位于全州升岩山，是太古宗的佛教寺庙。徒步前往洞古寺是一次令人耳目一新的攀登，从寺庙中可以欣赏到全州市中心的壮丽全景。寺庙建筑依山脊而建，鳞次栉比地排列在大雄殿两侧。寺庙朴素而高雅，装饰有已故佛教高僧的肖像和木制佛教壁画。东郭寺右侧的登山步道通往致明子山烈士陵园，这是朝鲜末期受迫害的天主教徒的墓地。
