V-Train中的“V”代表“山谷”，因为它穿过江原道和庆尚北道的偏远山区。由于列车行驶在白头大干山脉中，其外部饰有白虎图案，因此也被称为“小白虎列车”。列车运行速度为每小时30公里，铁岩线除外，列车通常减速至每小时27.7公里，让乘客有时间欣赏外面的景色。为了提供沿途悬崖和山谷的清晰视野，火车墙壁（不包括天花板）的大部分都被制成了玻璃窗。乘客可以随意打开和关闭车窗，让新鲜的山间空气进入。
