주문진등대는 1918년 3월 20일 설립된 강원도 최초의 등대이다. 등대는 밑부분의 지름이 3미터, 높이가 10미터이고 외벽을 흰색 모르타르로 덮었습니다. 한국 등대건축의 초기 구조를 보여주는 건물로, 우리나라 건축사적으로도 큰 가치를 지닌다. 신호등은 15초 간격으로 깜박이며 37km 떨어진 곳에서도 볼 수 있습니다. 원래의 등대는 한국전쟁 때 소실되었으나 1951년에 재건되었습니다.
