가파도는 제주도 서귀포시 남쪽 모슬포항에서 5.5km 떨어져 있다.
네덜란드인 헨드릭 하멜(Hendrik Hamel)은 우연히 제주도 해안을 발견하고 나중에 이 섬을 서양에 소개했습니다. 섬에는 하멜의 제주에 대한 공헌을 기리기 위해 세워진 기념비가 있습니다. 가파청보리축제는 매년 5월에 개최되며, 모슬포항에서 가파도까지 페리가 운행하며 하루 2회 운행한다. |
