오목대유적은 가파른 언덕 위에 자리잡고 있으며, 조선 태조가 된 이성계가 임진왜란을 마치고 귀국하는 길에 잠시 들러 승전을 축하했던 곳이다. 황산 운봉봉의 일본군. 오목대에서 다리 건너면 승암산 자락에 이목대가 있다. 이목대에서 내리막길 약 80m에는 태조의 고조부인 목조가 살았던 건물과 비석이 있다. 돌에 새겨진 글자는 고종황제의 친필이다. 목조는 당시 전주부신과의 다툼으로 인해 함경도로 이주했는데, 이는 태조가 조선 왕조를 형성하는 기틀을 마련했다고 믿었던 사건이다.
