매미성은 2003년 태풍 매미로 경작지를 잃은 백순삼 시민이 자연재해로부터 농작물을 보호하기 위해 홀로 쌓은 성벽이다. 바닷가 근처에 네모난 돌을 쌓고 시멘트로 메우는 일을 반복한 것이 이제는 추억의 성곽이 됐다. 유럽의 중세시대. 설계도 하나 없이 지어졌다는 사실이 믿기지 않을 만큼 규모와 디자인이 훌륭하다.
