통영 남부 미륵도 중앙에 위치한 미륵산(해발 458.4m)은 용화사를 따서 용화산이라고도 부르기도 한다. 산에 있는 또 다른 사찰로는 좀 더 한적한 관음암, 도소암, 미래사 등이 있습니다. 다른 산에 비해 높지는 않지만 울창한 숲과 맑은 물이 흐르는 계곡, 기암괴석, 바위동굴 등이 유명하다. 봄에는 철쭉, 가을에는 단풍, 한국 다도해의 숨막히는 전경으로 사계절 내내 아름다운 산입니다.
