법광사는 경상북도 포항시 비학산 기슭에 위치해 있다. 원래 신라 진평왕(579~631) 때 원효대사가 명을 받아 창건한 것입니다.
원래 사찰의 규모는 525칸(칸은 두 기둥 사이의 거리를 나타내는 전통적인 단위인 약 1.8미터)에 달했으나, 1863년 화재로 대부분의 건물이 소실되었습니다. 현재의 건물은 1952년에 재건된 것입니다. 옛 사찰은 사적 제 83호로 지정되어 있습니다. 493. 남아 있는 유물로는 삼층석탑, 불상연화대좌, 쌍귀부 등이 있다. |
