경주 동궁과 월지는 신라 태자가 사용한 별궁이다. 국가의 중요한 행사와 귀빈들의 연회장으로도 사용되었습니다. 674년 문무왕 때 조성된 연못이다. 연못에는 세 개의 작은 섬이 있고, 북동쪽에는 12개의 작은 언덕이 펼쳐져 있습니다. 신라가 멸망한 이후 이곳은 버려지고 잊혀졌다. 고려, 조선시대부터 안압지라 불렸던 연못이다. 1980년대에는 '월지'라는 글자가 새겨진 토기조각이 발견되면서 연못의 진짜 이름이 드러났다. 발견 이후 현재의 동궁과 월지라고 이름이 바뀌었다.
