하회마을은 한국에서 가장 유명한 민속마을 중 하나이다. 낙동강을 끼고 있는 이 마을은 풍산 류씨 후손들이 살고 있는 마을로 지금도 마을 주민의 70%를 차지하고 있다. 1999년 4월 21일 영국 엘리자베스 여왕, 2005년 미국 조지 부시 대통령이 방문하면서 마을은 더욱 유명해졌다. 이 마을에는 문화재와 중요문화자료가 많아 '마을'로 지정됐다. 1984년에 국가민속문화재 제122호로 지정되었다. 국보 제121호인 하회탈도 이 마을의 중요한 특징이다.
