별천문대는 칠갑산 한티고개 부근에 위치해 있다. 전망대에는 천체투영실, 영상강의실, 전시실, 전망대, 주전망실, 보조전망실 등이 있다. 주관측실에는 국내 최대 규모인 400mm 반사망원경 1개와 304mm 굴절망원경 1개 등 망원경 6대가 설치돼 있다. 천체투영실에서는 기상 조건에 관계없이 폭 10m의 돔 스크린을 통해 가상의 밤하늘과 별을 감상할 수 있다. 우주과학과 관련된 5D 큐빅 영화를 풀HD 스크린으로 감상할 수 있으며, 물, 바람, 번개 등의 환경 효과를 적용한 4D 의자도 마련되어 있습니다.
