市庁前のソウル広場は、1919年3月1日の三ミル独立運動と1987年6月の民主化運動が行われた史跡。 2002 年のワールドカップの試合を観戦するために数万人の韓国サッカーファンが集まった場所としても有名です。ソウル広場は市の中心部に位置し、徳寿宮など多くの歴史的名所に囲まれているため、ソウルを代表する名所となっています。
