崇林寺は金山寺傘下の益山の主要寺院の 1 つで、新羅時代の景徳王 (742 ～ 764 年) の時代に僧真平ユルサによって建立されたと信じられている人もいます。崇林寺は、1345 年の高麗忠牧元年に建立されたという説もあります。崇林寺は、城山の奥地にある小林寺で 9 年間座禅を積んだ偉大な僧侶、達磨大師に敬意を表して名付けられました。中国で。壬辰倭乱(1592年～1598年)で寺院は焼失し、宝光殿だけが残った。その後、寺院の断片は 1697 年、1819 年、1892 年に修復されました。
