Songcheon Rice Cake Village, located in Seo-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, is a small village surrounded by pine forests along the Songcheon Valley, which originates from Daecheongbong Peak of Seoraksan Mountain. Songcheon Rice Cake Village has been designated as a farm stay, a rural experience brand hosted by Nonghyup. Farm stay refers to a rural experience trip where you can experience farming, life, and culture while lodging and lodging in a farmhouse, and participate in nearby village festivals as well as sightseeing. Songcheon Rice Cake Village’s representative rural experience program is rice cake making. Even now, village residents make rice cakes the old way using rice, honey, and beans they farm themselves. Visitors can make rice cakes by pounding rice cakes boiled over a wood fire with a rice cake, kneading them with their hands, and then adding toppings. You can also play traditional games such as swinging, neolttwigi, and tuho throwing.
The farm stay accommodations are located in the mountain village ecology experience center in a two-story Hanok building made of red clay. There are three studio-type rooms for four people and three rooms for six people with kitchens and bathrooms, and there is a separate seminar room. Reservations are accepted by phone (033-673-7020).
