GYEONGSANGBUK-DO WEATHER
Geumosan Mountain (976m) is a mountain that rises on the ridge of the Sobaeksan Mountain Range. The entire mountain has steep cliffs with strangely shaped rocks and is dotted with scenic spots. It was designated as a provincial park in 1970 and equipped with tourist facilities. The entire mountain is made of rocks, has many steep slopes with strangely shaped cliffs, and a cable car is installed from the bottom of the mountain to Daehye (Songgeum) Waterfall. It has long been one of the Eight Scenic Views of Yeongnam. After the area around this mountain was designated as a provincial park in June 1970, tourist facilities were established, and many tourists continue to flock to it. The temple has Yaksaam Rock near the summit, the 38 m high Myeonggeum Falls on the northern slope, and Haeunsa Temple, which is said to have been built by the Silla monk Doseon. In addition, there are Doseonggul Cave and the Rock-carved Bodhisattva Standing Statue. As a tourist facility, the first-class Geumosan Tourist Hotel is built at the entrance to the mountain after passing Chaemijeong, and the cable car built from the point just above it to next to the shipping company provides many conveniences to tourists.

Geumosan Mountain There are historic ruins and temples in the mountains. There are famous sites such as Yaksaam Hermitage and Rock-carved Bodhisattva Standing Stone at the top, Haeunsa Temple, Doseonggul Cave, and Daehye Falls on the midslope, and Chaemijeong Pavilion, which commemorates the wishes of Giljae, at the bottom of the mountain. During the Goryeo Dynasty, it was called Namseongsan Mountain. There is a fortress about 2km long on top of the mountain, which shows that Geumosan Mountain is also a natural fortress. It is said that at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, nearby residents entered the mountain to avoid raids by Japanese pirates, and during the Japanese invasions of Korea, they built a fortress to defend against Japanese pirates.
